It's hard to believe that 2009 is almost at its end! But a new year means new things– and if you're just entering the working world, a new year means new and exciting job opportunities.
Of course, it's no secret that we're living through tougher economic times. This means that there are fewer companies hiring and those that are have high, competitive standards. But knowing what you're up against and what you want out of a career are two great ways to prepare you for the future.

Let's take a look back at 2009's top 10 lucrative jobs for college graduates as reported by Forbes in January of this year.

     1.    Network Systems and Data Communications Analyst, starting salary $40,100
     2.    Sales Agent, Financial Services, starting salary $30,890
     3.    Sales Agent, Securities and Commodities, starting salary $30,890
     4.    Market Research Analyst, starting salary $33,310
     5.    Public Relations Specialist, starting salary $29,580
     6.    Cost Estimator (in construction and manufacturing), starting salary $32,470
     7.    Educational, Vocational and School Counselor, starting salary $28,430
     8.    Actuary, starting salary $48,750
     9.    Paralegal and Legal Assistant, starting salary $28,360
   10.    Computer Support Specialist, starting salary $25,9500

Of course, the popularity and value of all jobs depend greatly on changes in society and technology. However, it certainly does not seem as if the necessity of these ten careers will be decreasing any time soon.

If you have a general major, such as Computer Science, Business Marketing or Communications, consider researching more about these top ten lucrative careers– their starting salaries are only expected to increase in the coming years!
